Could be the old cast metal RCF flares that had vanes towards the front and usually a TW101 screwed to the back.

Chris and Gavin,i believe Matamp actually used Vitavox flares, with the
S2 or S3 driver,so would have been a pretty expensive bit of kit back
then...you see the middle larger flares in the above photo, these were re-used
on top of the ASS concert mids in the later system, see below...it wasnt until much later that Froggy used some of Tony's ASS radial horns.

I believe for the most part that Orange used Celestion drivers, so the other horn could be the Celestion one. It wasn't multicell but had fins in the front. I used them myself before making my own. In that last photo, the tweeter box on top was my only involvement with a Piezo.

I have just renovated these, the larger of the radial horns above, interestingly they were cast in two halves and bolted together, and feature the vanes in the 2inch throats.
Need to build these into some orange vinyl covered boxes i think! ![]() ![]() |

Ian,
I had some Vitavox flares just like that in the early 80's loaded with S3's. Quite bulky but sounded so sweet at the time, pretty sure I got them from Robbo.

hi yes i had a turner in the early 8t's,a b series one,i've got-when i can post pics on here-a copy of the turner leaflet and a couple turned up on ebay recently that i snatched pics of,i loved mine, built in a similar way to an amcron but solid, british bult and oh so clean sound,a mate of mine who put me on to them was a guy called andy gilson from wolverhampton,he had a 4 way system using vitavox thunderbolts with barn doors,2 per side,a 2 x 10" angled mid cab on top then vitavox s2 cellular horns and on top a vitavox s2 with a louvre horn-i sold him my s2's to add to the system-how i regret that now!
