Hi all,
Got a very moderate rig running through a Berry CX2310 crossover (cheap but does, or did, the job) The high output on one of the channels keeps cutting out at random, and only coming back when I ramp the mixer output right up. I'm not sure what could be causing this, so anyone got any suggestions? Happy to open it up and poke around with an iron/screwdriver if necessary, but it seems odd that it is an intermittent fault, rather than a dud channel.

Regards,
Mike

Firstly take all the left hand plugs on the berry and swap them all with the right hand ones, ins and outs, that way you will know for sure that it is the processor or something else (you wouldn't want to strip the behringer down to find a loose wire in a speakon)
If it is the processor then the fault will move to the other stack.
Good luck

If it is the crossover, I would put money on a dry solder joint on the XLR output socket.

Good luck

Swapped the inputs, and the fault stayed on the same side of the processor, so it's not the mixer, but didn't think of swapping the outputs Confused. The tops are plugged in upstairs so will do that tonight and see what happens!

It's bound to be the processor but it always helps to be absolutely sure before taking the top off.
Even though I've been doing this for 35 years I get caught out on a regular basis. What we call a "kick self" moment.

Well, It's definitely the processor, will pop the top off later and have a look for any dodgy connections.

And fixed. Had a look inside, there was a tiny bit of stray solder bridging two pins on one of the transistors on the I/O board. picked/scraped it off, and it's been good as gold for 12 hours or so. Cheers for the help!
