just had to drop a teasercomment from todays advetures...

slaith know his stuff, damn, his builds are well thought out, everything has a purpouse, it's all modular and the craftsmanship is close to pro-grade, as for the sound, well... I actually got goosebumps, no joke, and the MHB-46 was really impressive, massive output to loading ratio!

Thanks Anders, heartwarming coming from you!

I did som proper measuring after you left
Tried the subs in different configurations, and a little EQ:ing also.

Just have to sort the images, and make it into a proper post.
Will post the pics and analysis in a different thread, don't want to contaminate Jerronimos. Smile

Anders I did som more testdriving after you left, played Greyhound by Swedesh house mafia.
Turned eveything up until my Proline 3000 was almost clipping, my guess is around 1000W per driver.
Then it really came to life, 124dBC at our listening position.
That was about 7 meters from the spekers I would guess, did som measuring about 50 meters back and I still had around 110dBC of sub.
I actually lost my breath when I wanted to check how much the driver was moving, phew!!

Gonna go that way next time you get here!!! You'll see.

BTW it was a privilige to listen to the THAM10.
So thank you for that!

Will post the same analysis in the upcoming thread along with som EQ tips, just to get the MHB:s even better.

Patrik

I did some measurements on the boxes and came to some modifications that would work really good.
Though I have to admit I havent gotten around to doing them yet.

It includes making the port a bit narrower but extend it all the way to the sides, I made a lid on the top for the driver.
Making a much larger flare both at the front and back of the port, at least 30mm or more.
Then extend the port as much at you can until you just can pass the driver for mounting.
I did sims in hornresp and I think the final length is about 350mm or something.

The result is that the port response is much wider and deeper, now it's at narrow peak.
It doesn't matter that it's not the same amplitude, it will give more depth and a better response.

When I finally get around to it, I will do A-B measurements of course.

I run my boxes with the recommended HP crossover of 35Hz 24dB/oct LR I think
And 120 Hz 24dB/oct LR, which works great, it's a good allround box for me.

I run just two, and could actually use two more to get a little more SPL.
The drivers are RCF 18G401, rated at 900rms.
I drive them with a Proline 3000 bridged and the boxes in parallell, up until clipping.
So I give them 1500W each and they just take it, smells of voice coil laquer sometimes but it's all good. Smile

For me it's a great allround box for bigger gigs and partys.

My 2 cents.
