Hi everyone,

I'm thinking of building a X12 with two Eminence DELTA 12A and was thinking of the Celestion CDX14-3060 1.4" compression driver and B&C ME90 horn. This is my first box, and price + availability are my constraints (I want to feel less sad if something breaks). Needs to be loud enough for <100 people. But a few questions:

  1. The B&C horn is square and most horns I've seen are rectangular. Other than making my box taller, are there drawbacks to that?
  2. Could a 1" compression driver work? The Deltas seem to work best <1.2kHz and I haven't seen any 1" drivers that would work well that low but maybe I haven't searched long enough. I have more choices for 1" horns than I do for 1.4"
  3. Is it just me or are 1" drivers much more popular than their 1.4" and 2" counterparts. Just curious.

Sorry if these are stupid questions and belong in the newbie section. I thought posting them here might be better since it's X12 related.

We use the delta 12A in our X12s and they run up to 1.9kHz and honestly sound fine, we run them up to a BMS 4538 1" compression driver as well.

I would say they could probably sound a bit better, but it does the job!
