Interesting article in Light & Sound International magazine this month talking about these products also known as Zig-Zag Transformers apparently, due to the config. of the windings.
Until today, I'd never heard of them as I'm not involved in large multimedia shows. So far as audio is concerned, with the rapidly increasing use of SMPS amps, HMT's can remove voltage drop caused by the pulsed current draw which is inherent in the design. I'm just flagging this info as it could be helpful for people working on large outdoor events/shows to have a better understanding of power requirements, especially for digital kit. Forewarned is forearmed as the saying goes. Steve/Soundscape |
