There have been plenty of drivers that were not that efficient, that are decent in Scoops, V18-1200 for example, so maybe your recollection, is somewhat flawed. They need more power to get going than a V18-1000, but in my cabs, 4x of them were plenty serious, driven by Void amp. |

Efficiency and SPL are free air rated figures, i.e. not very useful ones for theoretically rating performance of the same driver in a horn. If there is one parameter that is a good indicator for horn efficiency, it is probably BL followed by how much displacement the driver can achieve. I think it is fair to say the rest interact in ways too complex to say if they are good or not without a particular enclosure in mind. |
