I have recently bought a Raspberry Pi 3 strictly for retro-gaming.
Aside from that reason, after browsing the net for breakout boards, I stumbled across this.
Its a cute little 25w class D amp module which sits proudly on top of the Pi.

Does anyone have this amp module for their Pi? Can anyone recommend any bookshelf or such sort speakers to run from it?

There is a forum for computer audio over at diyaudio they might be able to help as its quite a specialist thing.  I have just started looking into using one as a server.  I would suggest looking at getting an external dac as the onboard sound isnt very good.  Not sure if the hifiberry has a dac built in?  There are loads of dac boards.  You might find a stand alone class d amp is better value.  Mission 760i are a good cheap 2nd hand speaker to try.

You can use the built in DAC or use an add on board on the top of it. I don't want any more boxes by my TV. A box the size of a 4" cube which is a games console, TV streamer and amplifier all in one can't be matched IMHO
