An active crossover is for low level (not amplified )signals. A passive crossover can be used after amplification.

It is a question of voltages.
Mic outputs are around 5mV (0.005V), nominal "line" level is around 1V (strictly 0.775V, or 3V DC from a Pioneer DJM) and the speaker level can easily reach 50-100V, some big toys can make 200+V. You can imagine what would happen to components rated for 10V max, having 100V shoved up them. They tend to "fail". |

thanks guys it was one of those late night things that was frying my brain
unfortunatly the matrix ukp2100x isnt really powerful enough to use it one chanel for tops and bass, best laid plans an all that lol so ill have to start saving for a 2u 4 channel amp to fit in its place ,might try out the thoman tsa 4-1300 as they seem to be well though of for a cheapie 4 channell and would have enough power till i can get somthing proper in there thanks anyways guys

Why can't you just buy another amp to go with your Matrix?
