The old Altec/JBL theater style 15" horns were designed for a 500hz crossover point, and work poorly above there, even with the best available horn type drivers. A dual 12 designed around a proper horn type driver (B&C 12PE32 or similar) sounds much better, and is easier to build. Edited by _djk_ - 28 September 2016 at 12:15am |

15" + 8" +1/1.4" makes sense imo, driving the 15" up to 1khz and above doesnt imo
12" horn doesnt go low enough normaly to get low+high enough to meet a comp decently+fill the gap to the subs. you would need a dedicated kickfill imo unless you use higher tuned/low cone mass 18" reflex that do sound ok`ish above 120hz, sacrifice would be lowend though.. |

"12" horn doesnt go low enough"
Really? Make it bigger. In the 30's, RCA made a 2" throat aluminum driver (WE594) on a large horn go flat to 40hz. |

I can cut the 2" even lower...the 12khz was assumed to not force too much the drivers. One of the problem that im trying to solve is even the dimension of the mids box, 15" is more close to be at the right size that i need than a 12" thats will need a lot of empty spaces on sides to fit how I need...
I know talking about boxes size when we discuss about sound quality is silly...but i need a specific result
