So I've had 4 x Bi amp 4726 cabs and a single active one on the shelf for a few months that i've been meaning to sort out. I brought them all untested with 4 spare comp diaphragms. for a very good price and I've finally got around to changing the EP8 connectors for speakons and check through the drivers, as I have a gig for four of them in a few weeks time.....
So of the 5 12" drivers, one is a 2206 and is working, one is a 2204 and is working, one is an E120 and is working and two are unlabelled and not working...... What are peoples thoughts on what the other two drivers are? I guess they are JBL judging by the backs but just don't know what, if they are E120s can the have 2206 re cones put in? Also, the 2204 has a very different cone pattern to the others... aftermarket recone? Only one of the comps is down but I've got the spare diaphragms, can anyone confirm if the are OEM or aftermarket? I assume the later... |

Re the 12"..the 2 top ones are genuine cones,(but the 2204 looks like it has a 2202 smooth cone in there)....the others look like cheap aftermarket recones.
All the diaphragms are copies. |

Cool, cheers, still worth it for what I paid, Does anyone have a clue as to what the unmarked units might be as they have the same magnet pattern to both the 2204 and the E120 but not the 2206...? Would like to get some original recones if its worth it.

The 2206 is different than the 2202/2204/E120 frame/magnet assembly.

okay, so given that the cabs should have 2206 drivers in them, what are opinions on where best to go? sell off the frames and invest in 2206 units or get them reconed with 2202/4 and put them in? As i've got quite a few different working drivers I can test and get an idea of what sounds okay. is the frame/magnet for 2202/4 and e120 the same? therefore allowing me to recone as to what gives best sound?
All help much appreciated
