Advice please -just got an HQ Power VPS2350MB second hand, looks fine apart from corner ding. No fan running on power up - wire was off from control board.
Q - How can I reasonably judge if its ok? I can possibly query its condition and get money back still. Help.
I put wire back in connector block and fan runs. Have now taken fan off again and left for half hour - cooling sink and all output chips still cold. Nothing looks/smells cooked. Not run and music through it yet. Can post pics if needed. NO SNIGGERING - its my first step into PA amps. |

Fans are generally there for a reason. Maybe ask the previous owner if he disconnected it for some reason, like noise. If it was used at low volumes for a hifi, etc. the fan could have been a disturbance, who knows.
Then run some music through the thing and see how it sounds, there is no other way of knowing if the amp is really ok, but without doubt, I´d reconnect the fan. |

Cheers, will do. Just wondered if it ran hot but given that its sort of at room temperature now after an hour or so I guess that it probably hasn't cooked itself. I'll keep it
