My first post!
A short presentation:
Robert from Sweden, born 1982. That's it! =)

So....
I'm building a 4-way reggae/dub sound system. Fun? Hell yeah!Big smile Sometimes frustrating? ohhh yes...Confused

I'm finished with the bass-scoops, the low mid-box and the hi mid-box. All wired up and are looking good!
Last box, the tweeters. I have decided to use ten piezo tweeters. All placed in one box.
But I have a hard time to figure out how to wire them up. Parallel or series/parallel?? Gahhhh!Dead

This is the tweeter specifications: (  http://jb-systems.eu/jb550 - http://jb-systems.eu/jb550 )
  • Impedance: piezo
  • Power RMS: 150W with 20 Ohm/10W shunt
  • Freq. Response: 4 kHz - 16 kHz

I have googled everything and read a lot of forums but it didn´t make me any wiser.
No value on the impedance, and what´s up with the 20Ohm/10W shunt resistor for each tweeter? What´s it for? Protect the tweeter?
I will use a reggae preamp from Jah Tubbys, a 4-way masterpiece, so the tweeters will have a dedicated amp that can handle 4-8Ohm.

I would be very thankful for any help!

Bless!

The search function sucks, you're better off with google. Just type in whatever your looking for and then add "speakerplans" with the quotes. It will then look for speakerplans pages with some correlation to what you're looking for..

Waste of an amplifier IMO, build a passive crossover at 8-10khz with the load resistors as indicated in the attachment and daisy chain them off the mid/high box. These things don't consume any power worth talking about.. they just react to voltage and have a rather high impedance compared to dynamic drivers so they won't impact the impedance load on the mid/high amp. Only downside to this is you have no control over them at your desk, but they're just super tweeters anyway so once they are dialed in to balance with the rest of the system you're good. Do not run these things down to 4khz.. they really don't sound good down there.
