Cone break up is a series of resonances that occur as you go up in frequency relating to the physical size of certain physical dimensions of the driver. As with most resonances, they are not very helpful when trying to design neutral sounding enclosures and don't sound great.

Acoustics by Berenak/Mellow has a very good series of diagrams showing different cone breakup modes for a driver as frequency increases.
