A week ago we were hired/commissioned to build a mobile sound system to cycle around London playing music and dressed with a banner to advertise the launch of a new radio station. Cue a hectic week of designing and building that finished on Wednesday at 2am. At 9am we rolled out with this:

We've christened her "Density" and it's quite apt. Remember Beatrix? She over 200% more dense. She's designed to cycle around London with music for over 8 hours and will hit 133db at full volume. She supports 2x 4x3ft banners on a collapsable A frame for neat storage. Sadly though she's very heavy in order to cope with the winds. Which she did well. We're deciding to to make her lighter and use mesh banners in future.

It's not me btw, that's David my business partner who was riding it for the day.

Cool :-)

Where's the battery in that ? Would there have been space/clearance underneath the speaker box to mount the batteries ? - just thinking of getting some weight below the axle ....  Guess that might have taken more time than you had ....

Yeah - would catch some wind .... wouldn't have been pleasant to catch a sudden vicious gust :-)

Did the batteries last the course OK ?

Yeah I'd have thought horns would be good for "cutting through" the obvious surrounding traffic noise ....

A week to design the bike, or a week to design a square box with 2 signs lent against each other?
Dear God. We paid for all this stuff ourselves, so thanks for nothing

The box with speakers in it. Would have taken a few days but in the midst of moving office + day job.

Nope, they have plenty of kit, might be a new radio station but they are a recording studio first. Besides, Sadie is more suited to post houses.

Oh and everything is in the box. The trailer gets used for a lot of things so need to be able to change the load to something new.

Looks good!

Slightly off topic, but how much more effort is it to pull a heavy trailer like that, than just cycling? (Bearing in mind I'm a lazy fair weather cyclist riding a heavy-ass 7 foot long chopper, rather than a dedicated rider on a nice recumbant!)

I like the idea of towing a system for the all day summer bike rides, but there's a lot of hills where I live!

If I'm honest, it's quite a bit harder work especially on up and down hills. But it depends on your trailer + weight + bike and gearing. Biggest problem we have is starting off and the trailer pulsing on London roads due to poor surface. To be honest it's not something I would contemplate on a cruiser unless it was a very good trailer (Carry Freedom or the like) and a lightweight system.
