Right here we go, I have an acer aspire ES laptop less than 6 months old, spec is intel Celeron processor n3050 1TB hard drive 4gb DDR3 L memory, running windows 10, its really unresponsive, tasks such as scrolling down web pages like ebay are really jumpy and not smooth also playing online games that are low graphic quality don't run smoothly, and it seems to lock up all the time when trying to do anything, even skipping tracks on media player takes a couple of seconds its just really clumpy and frustrating. things I have tried to do to help is the usual disc clean up defrag etc run antivirus from bootup turned off programs from running in background, theres over 900gb free on hard drive, does it need setting up by a shop? or is there anything I can do? thankyou!

I'm not sure if that processor is suited to Windows 10 IMHO. It's much slower than even the most basic Intel i3, which is in A LOT of cheapo laptops these days.
It's 1.6GHz clock speed is very low for todays standards. New interfaces on new operating systems require much more processing power for a slick and smooth operation.

Firstly you have fallen for the marketing of Gigs over CPU. That Celeron is like having a 500cc car.

Do ctrl, alt delete to bring up task manager, is the cpu stuck on 100%?

Which version of 10 is the machine on, type winver in the search box and run it. Is it 1511 or 1607?

If 1511 (or earlier) it may be trying to do the upgrade but failing.

Download JRT from bleeping computer (careful) and run it
Download CCleaner from Piriform and run cleaner.

Unninstall any anti virus. That CPu is going to struggle like mad and the latest 10 has an improved AV.

Go here
https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows10

Go to the bit down the page, "download tool now" and do as it says. At some point you will get the option to update this machine.  A few hours later you will be on 1607 which with the above may sort things.

If you are already on 1607 then get rid of all AV, run the JRT and CCleaner then do a defragment.
Most 10 upgrades have massive fragmentation so do that regularly

Also popping into safe mode and out seems to sort stuff in bad 10 upgrades
Learn how to run chkdsk /r and do this too, find the results in event viewer and make sure no bad sectors.

If you are not comfortable with the above then your local shop may be a better bet

As a rule, minimum laptop spec should be Intel Corei3 (i5/i7 better) or AMD A10 CPU

OK 100% cpu is because something is making it happen.
Get rid of all anti virus
Run JRT
Run Malwarebytes
Run Hitman pro

ALL FREE VERSIONS ONLY

Afer all that right click on start menu, then left click command prompt admin.

Type chkdsk /r      there is a space after k

Say yes to do it on re-boot, then re-boot   it will take ages.

No to CPU upgrade
No to Win 8
Yes to get rid.

the below have a small HDD but it is SSD. You will still have 60gb or so and they go like stink. I have had 4 through here for commissioning and they go very well

I've ran jrt, and it has removed some unwanted things not sure quite what they were but they was around 9 or 10 items, currently running the cc cleaner now avast antivirus has been removed and now task manager cpu is now ranging from 20% all the way upto 100% but the cc cleaner seems to be using a big chunk of that.

You are winning. Avast far to heavy for that cpu.  Defragment it too.

Auslogics disk defrag is very good but has sold it's soul. get the 3.4.1.0 from

https://auslogics-disk-defrag.en.uptodown.com/windows/old

Do not upgrade in any way. Do not install any Ask toolbars or shit with it. Use the little arrow next to the defrag button that says defrag and optimise (monthly will do)

the chkdsk is best done overnight BTW
