Hi!

Anyone know what are the levels of maxamps lo/hi gain?

Theres only one value 29.5 in the specs.

Thinking if ill get the maxamp or another sure 2x25.

The sure has gain settings of 25.6/31.6/35.1/37.6 so I suppose the sure is significantly louder than the maxamp?

Anyone have experience on the maxamp?

Thanks!

ps.Where has saturnus disappeared?Smile

Ordered another sure 2x25w amp for back up.For now theres no reason not to pay 20euros including posts for the sure which has 4 settings for gain.Instead of paying over 30euros for maxAmp which dont have gain settings as good as the sure.

Still would love to hear what kinda experiences has people got with the maxamp and how it compares to the sure 2x25...

At the moment the fact that its made in the netherlands is not enough for meSmile

Id appreciate some views about the maxamp "vs" sure electronics still...

Well if anyone knows the "levels of maxamps hi/lo gain" it would be the Maxamp company Accusafe.
Have you tried to contact them?
Its simple enough....try there contact page...http://maxamp.nl/en/contact/
Phone number, email and a contact form that they say will reply in 24 hours.
That would be a good start im 'sure' they can answer all your questions with accuracy.LOL

Did you use the contact form at store.accusafe.nl? We've been having some problems with receiving and sending emails (especially to gmail accounts) for the last few weeks, and it looks like the form on store.accusafe.nl is also have problems... The form on accusafe.nl should be working. I didnt check the form at maxamp.nl yet, will check this right away. Anyways, we usually indeed do reply within 24 hours, and I'll gladly answer all your questions, could you send your questions again to info@accusafe.nl?

---

We offer our maxamps with two gain settings. The low setting uses the standard gain, so 20K input and 20K feedback resistors. With the gain set to low and the volume pot set to maximum the gain is 29.5dB. With the gain set to "high" the gain is 37.5dB. I would only use the high gain settings with a low output source such as a iPod or iPhone.

Thanks for the answer!Thumbs Up

Few more questions:

Is there a switch to change the gain settings?Or how does one change the gain setting to hi?

So on hi setting and the volume pot on maximum the gain is 37,5db?

Why would you use the hi gain setting only for ipod etc, distortion?

edit.I indeed have a gmail account so the problem might be there.
edit2.Made the first question smarterLOL

There is no physical switch or jumper but a solder jumper. All you need is a solder iron and some solder tin. There is a solder jumper for each channel, near the "gain" marking as can be seen here:
http://maxamp.nl/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/differntFeatures_inputselect.jpg
Just add enough solder to connect both halves of the jumper and the gain will be set to low. Standard all amplifiers are shipped without the solder jumpers soldered, so high gain (as most of our customers have a modern phone like a iPhone or Galaxy S4 which have a low output due to strict regulations).
Without the modified gain you won't be able to use all available power because you are limited by a fixed gain. With a PC as a source, for example, the output signal is already strong enough, and even with the standard gain you'll be able to fully use all the power in the amplifier, and probably even get distortion if you crank the volume up  high enough. With a iPhone, for example, the signal is a lot weaker, thus needing a higher gain to reach maximum volume.

As for the price, yep, that was a promotional price which we only intended to have for a month, but instead it lasted for like 5 months or so LOL

Is 14v the absolute maximum voltage for the maxamp?

Not the absolute maximum, but the maximum specified voltage for normal operation. The absolute maximum voltage is 16V, but that's not for 24/7 use but the maximum voltage before breakdown. With 14VDC and 8 ohm your maximum power is 11W (1% THD), 13.5W(10% THD)
