Thinking about a little 12V project for the winter but I want a media player/headunit in it so I can play songs directly off a USB stick or maybe SD card. Would need to have a little screen to possibly navigate folders.

Car headunit is a bit big so was thinking something smaller but I'm struggling to find what I am after?

If (like me) you want folder view/play/navigate your choice amongst phones/media players is very limited.

This :-

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/8GB-SANDISK-SANSA-CLIP-PLUS-DIGITAL-MP3-PLAYER-VOICE-RECORDER-FM-RADIO-/221921238289?hash=item33ab895d11:g:2loAAOSw5ZBWKjru

is one the very few that supports that .... sounds decent also. Has a SD card slot too.

Otherwise I'd say use a netbook - and mebbe get extra batteries (depending on reqd run-time).
Battery life is a good deal better than most laptops, and a good deal more portable/manageable.
Asus EEE901 runs natively on 12V BTW.
Run win XP - will let you do a bit DJ tricks with virtual DJ etc.
REMEMBER....POLITICIANS AND DIAPERS SHOULD BE CHANGED OFTEN AND FOR THE SAME REASON
