I cross them at 110hz
Never tried that other design but have was deciding between the two. From what little info that i understand from the french forums the mhb46 is more suitable for kick heavy music like techno/dance/trance and the mpb46 go's a few hz lower but won't kick as hard. So i went for the mhb46 and don't regret it! Edited by jerronimo - 26 June 2013 at 10:23pm |

Built a couple of MHB-46:s last year and i'm rally happy with them, a very good overall cab.
Pretty deep because of the BR and kick really good with the short horn. Pretty easy to run as high as 130Hz 24dB/oct LR, sounded pretty good and gave the a proper beating with a proline 3000. I'm using the RCF LF18G401:s and i'm really happy with them, would maybe give me som dB extra with the neo variant. But it's hard to motivate the cost, so this will work for me. Gonna build som more in a while I think, want more bass! It's never enough is it? Good luck with the build. Have to say the Jerronimos built was the main inspiration for me. And since I speak and read french pretty good, it was good reading over att the freeplans forum. But I think google translate will do a descent job there. There is even som measurements of the cabs there. Gonna do some myself in a couple of weeks, during my holiday. Maybe just maybe there is a picturepost in there somewhere, we'll see.

My plan is for 4 but i think if I do come across more storage space I would most likely expand... wont be able to help myself Have you got any pictures of your build? What mid tops are you running? I'm going to be using the MT130 I think. It's just a hobby for me, I'd probably do the odd club night but mostly just small, private, non profit parties for fun... For the time being anyway
Have you used your MHB's outside at all?

I think 4 is probably the way to go, sensitivity around the same as 4 double 18".
But half the amps needed.
Besides they will fit just nicely on my trailer with the midtops between the subs, and the amprack and cables in the trunk of the car.
Top system is.
120 to 300hz a regular basreflex box by my own design that is mountable on a polestands.
Tuned to around 50Hz to be able to be used standalone also, used PD 12SB30 driver.
300 to around 3000hz is a Turbomid horn with B&C 10MD26 driver sounds really good in that configuration.
3000hz and up is DE250 with ME45 horn.
All active crossover, measured with smaart and other asorted software.
The upper tops are as compact as possible, just since I want it to be a one man lift.
Upper tops have rubber feet that goes into recessed holes in the "kicks"
Will do some outdoor testing of the system in the coming weekend, good thing to live in the country with almost nobody around.
Have a few friends coming over
One of wich Anders Martinsson, the designera behind the THAM series.
He doesn't live that far from me.
Think he will bring some speakers for testing, we will probably do some measuring also.
Will get back with the results.

Yes do that will be interesting to hear the results.
Have to warn you though, mhb46 is not an easy one man lift. It can be done but you need to be strong, and have a good back ;) |

Don't I know it, damn those things are bulky.
But I got help with the lifting, so that's fine.
Will get back with the results, will probably try some stacking options also.
We'll see what the time alows for. Edited by slaith - 04 July 2013 at 7:22am |
