Oh yes, I have used Turbo a lot - I know it well. I am a pro sound engineer, who I learnt on Flash/Floodlight.

Your problem with the THL-811, would be that you would need something in between them and the HD15s. I've found the HD15s won't really go above 250Hz, and they are better if they croosover more like 200Hz

I would not want to use the THl811s below 350Hz. Leaves a gap which can technically be filled, but would sound arse.

With the Porn horns on a 12" rather than a 10", it should go lower.

Go for the Porns - it will more fun as well.

Porn Horn 12         &nbs p;£148
P Audio SN 12B         &nb sp;£80
Porn Horn 1.5         &nb sp;£42
P Audio SD 740N         &n bsp;£158
                ----
                £312

I am in the process of buidling a rig suitable for outdoor use :)

So far i have cobbled together some reasonable bits

QSC RMX1850HD
QSC RMX4050HD
Behringer Ultradrive Pro

Dom said he would sell me 8 of his single HD15's (when he has the time to tidy them up) which I intend to load with PD154's and run 4 per side in parallel on the 4050HD (giving 500W/cab)

Now I was originally intending to purchace one more amp (somthing small and lightweight) to run hf porn horns and use the RMX 1850HD to run porn horn mids.

I have recently seen that second hand Turbo THL811's can be purchaced for around £500-£600 per cab and am wondering how 4 of these would compare with 4 sets of porn horns? They would rather neatly match the HD15's.

4 x THL811 ~ £2000

X4 of all of these
     Porn Horn 12         &nbs p;£148
     P Audio SN 12B         &nb sp;£80
     Porn Horn 1.5         &nb sp;£42
     P Audio SD 740N         &n bsp;£158
     Other bits         &n bsp;£50?

Additional Amp         &nb sp;     £200
                      £1648

In the scale of things, the turbo stuff isnt actually that much more expensive than home made (and certainly a lot easier).

I can see there are probably advantages of both (active v passive, number of boxes/amps, potential rentability, etc)

What do people think?

Thanks, Matt
