i like the idea of a control surface like a pad or whatever, and the dynamic eq and processing options on each channel i just wonder will this technology ever be incorporated in to a product with less inputs, maybe a 19" rack full of dacs, software of your choice, and a entry level option for people who dont need 76 channels. ![]() |

I've always wondered about stuff like this. What's stopping companies from making mixers that have a central hub say, from which you could plug in something that resembles a patch panel, one for ins and another for outs, and then daisy chain as many of these that you need? It gives you the advantage of having one mixer that you can use for small events and large by just adding/removing the panels. I hope that made sense?

perfect sense
wish i could sit down with one of these product developers, they say they are all industry experienced, but when you mention simple things like footswitches to turn off the echo, the option of usb in on a mixer that does not blow your pa to bits because of the lack of a volume control they scratch their heads . ![]() |

Damn those retards at DiGiCo! I knew they forgot something! The amount of times I needed a footswitch to turn off the echo!! (actually you can wire one up using the GPI port if you really want to do that...) But in reality, they do kind of do that for professional digital mixers. I can use one rack, two racks or three racks depending on how big the show is and where I need inputs and outputs to be.

hey guys, why does the tape in and now usb in on desks come in at full belt, when a tape desk has no level control?
anyway re fantasy product time i pad + black box for 2 mics and guitar 3 windows, but master level , guitar and mic faders always visible, stop play pause forward and reverse always visible!!! when you press play or hit the separate foot switch, it toggles the fx on the vox, the song ends or press stop, fx off. you can link fx patches to particular songs. 1st tab. play list window 2nd tab. tone ans dsp compressors for mics and instrument 3rd tab. media library and playlists, manual play or play all, etc settings a best seller, come on some one, some of us, many of us maybe need nothing more?? ![]() Edited by kevin tyler - 07 February 2012 at 11:48pm |

hi k
ive been using towers laptops and pods for gigs for the last 5 years, non of the stability issues people warned me about, and gear is sited off tables and dickheads dont get close enough(so far) you could say the same about any mixing desk out in the audience couldnt you, beer risk?. manufacturers need to get their heads out out of their arses with all this home dj producer crap and concentrate on some guys who earn regular and spend regular every now and then. ![]() |

Doing one currently. A+H iDR8 + iDRin, cat 5 to a small mini PC on it permanently, then VPN via wifi/adhoc-peer-to-peer network to iPAD with remote desktop app. I will write a custom virtual PL plate, so client can't bugger about with eq/X-over stuff, but can adjust volumes, as they want. However, you could run the full iDR Manager software on the PC, and remote desktop to that, to get full control. I intend to do set up from laptop, whilst sitting in the auditorium, a la BSS Varicurve remote type thing. The larger A+H iLive stuff has a direct app written so iPad can wifi remote control directly, in place of the control surfaces, if you wanted! Just add a wireless network switch into the cat 5 on stage box. Still prefer to fiddle with a knob (fanargh) directly though, swiping through loads of pages to select channel, then select eq, then make parameter adjustment, seems a bit slow to me, as the lead singer's mic howls.... Makes you realise how smart the BSS Varicurve remote control system really was, for something that existed over 20 years ago. |
