Well, not really a boombox but a nice little speaker to play my iPod through!

Components are:

Sure TK2050 amp
2 x Monacor SP60/4
2 x Dayton ND16FA-6
2 x 6.8uF capacitors

The box is actually an Ikea storage box fully lined and braced with 6mm MDF, the baffle is 12mm. I have the wood working skills of a small girl so figured a nicely pre-crafted box may be the way to go, it also nets out pretty much bang on my target of 7.5l. A little nod to Void with the colour scheme too!

Sounds great, really tight clean sound and surprisingly good lows - those SP60's really are excellent drivers!

Thanks to Saturnus for his advice on the components.

Sorry for the delay...

This is for home use only so its mains powered (24v) and i'm still using my Sony dock for charging, so it's pretty much a simple powered speaker. At just over 10 inches tall it's small enough to fit wherever i need it to around the house.

When the weather gets a little warmer i'll think about maybe adding battery enclosure that forms a clip on base, it can then at least stretch it's legs into the garden!

Just knocked up a grill for it...

It's a PLUGGIS Article Number : 501.709.95

The box is slightly opaque so i sprayed the inside black before bonding the internal panels to the walls.

Great active speaker you made there.

With a little remodeling it'd be the perfect small boombox for a girls camp, as it's relatively easy to build and you choose whatever colour theme you like.

And yeah, with that size cab, those speakers I suggested really are awesome. Especially considering the cost. It's finding gems like those that makes it fun to listen to and measuring tons of different drivers.

Btw, did you mean the box is slightly transparent? Opaque as far as I know means "not transparent "(at all).

Yes, i mean transparent...not sure why i said opaque. Although i guess slightly opaque and slightly transparent are technically the same Tongue
