Ive been working on some new subs to go with my twin 10 + 1" tops, as detailed on the other thread

BMS 18S430V2 loaded, courtesy of our Tony Wilkes

Net 150L internal ( allowing for bracing / handles / driver displacement), tuned to 41.5Hz, F3 is simming and measuring at more or less bang on 40Hz

sounding very good - ive tried a couple of different volumes and tunings, but im going with this one. Very musical sound, good depth and very good transient response.

Just about to start on 8 birch ones!

Thats an awsome looking sub .. how do you go about designing the corner vents? i was told it is a bit of a tricky affair?

Hard to simulate accurately, so more testing needed. Thumbs Up

Very nice work btw. Good to see frontal area minimised! Star

yes, as said above, i sim using the cross section divided into 4, take 10% off the port length, then build, tune, fiddle, fiddle, fiddle...

in the end, its my ears and my NTI analyser which decides, not the computer.

Its not the smallest single 18 around by a long way, but it was sounding very neutral and flat, and not struggling with the bottom end of some d&b and dubstep tracks i know well

The main answer regarding ports in general is that after you've designed a few, you get the hang of the 'fudge factors' required to convert a simulated tuning to real ports.

That and of course a bit of guesswork followed by trial and error as described above!

Chris,  Bloody hell mate that was quick, when it is run in it will get even more musical and a give bit more output. Give me a shout when they are in action for the first time in anger, would like a listen and gander, looking good so far.

Tony
