Hi Speakerplanners
I just finished building two of my new band pass horns optimized for PD186. Dimensions are H:636 W:600 D:750. So they stack nicely on top of 600 or 636 wide subs. Here is a simulation of 4x ES18BPH (Black) compared to 4x SV186BPH (Gray), both loaded with PD186 given 0.25W per cap(1W in total) in 4 Pi. The original driver recommended for the ES18BPH sims much better than the PD186. The sim might also be too pessimistic because people seems satisfied with PD186 loaded ES18BPHs, but at least this were my motivation for trying to do a new design. A 3D rendering of what the cab should look like when done. (At least that is my current plan) I have plans as a pdf if anyone is interested. A proper build subwoofer will be the only thing in a room that is not shaking.

Considering the opposite, although turbulences will occur around the chassis and magnet etc, the rear of the chassis will also act as a phasing plug.

Oh I found out I could use the upload file function.
Plan: Consider the cone shape vs the chamber shape. Reverse firing = >> Normal = <> Minimizing the path length differences. Not that I think all this really has a significant impact. Even at 200 Hz the wavelength is still 1,72 m... What is important is the volume and length of the front and rear chamber. |
