I'd probably hit the MBP road, probably an earlier model (2010-2012ish) so to get it cheap and slam an SSD where the DVD drive would normally be (look up OptiBay).
No reason to get a brand new pc for that use, I know you have no budget but overkill is overkill and used MBP's are damn cheap at the moment.
Think it is also worth to mention that a cheap pc will not endure, especially when used 5 hours straight while getting charged. To get a nice and solid laptop you'd spend as much as getting a MBP imho.

Refurb/ ex lease Lenovo X and T series may be worth a look, 3000rpm usually have something decent in stock at reasonable prices.

I have a refurbished DELL E6420.

I5 2.5 gig (Don't like heat issues from I7),

Upgraded to 16gb Mem, 2x internal 1TB Hard disks (Non SSD, 7200rpm,16mb cache each).

Prefer external E-sata DVD/RW, when they stop working, simple cheap replacement.

My Desktop of same spec, has been in storage for 1x year now.

Approve

hey

Yeah seems these days best thing is to get a good condition second hand MBP (people seem to take much better care of these than a PC Laptop) and Boot Camp it so you can use both windows and OSX as needed.

I am REALLY fond of Lenovo X and T series. Many companies are using these and you can get really good condition second hand ones. Second hand I'd go for T410 / X210 or newer. Current models are known as T450 / X250. Lenovo X/T and MBP are only laptops I respect.

I wouldn't touch OSX for 'tools, you can't get a powerful Mac anymore, and Stable is no longer a word associated with OSX since they went intel...

I don't know what traktor is, but I am sure a monkey with an iPod may work as well.... Smile
