“For the first time we have the capability of bringing Rupert Neve sound into the live audio field, entirely due to Yamaha VCM technology. I believe that it is indistinguishable from the original analog sound,” says Neve.
If thats true and its as easy to use as an M7, I'm sold any one know what they cost?

The CL5 lists at £20,265.53, the CL3 is £15,007.45, the CL1 is £10,954.34 and the stage box is £5827.71.
I'm reserving judgement until I've heard one. I have a feeling it's a case of too little too late from Yamaha.

yeah
there are a LOT of M7s and PM5Ds kicking about and in regular use, regardless of peoples opinions of the sound of them, so for all those hire companies these will be the logical upgrades. While I wouldnt choose them personally over other brands, i think they'll become fairly common and worth getting to know in case you turn up at a job and one is in use. k |

I have to admit, I find it difficult to get excited about these desks. They just feel like pumped up M7s on steroids, although I cant say I was expecting anything different from Yamaha.
I'm sure they will be as bulletproof as their predecessors and in time may be adopted as the new 'Industry standard' small digi consoles as current hire co's replace their aging M7cl/PM5d stock, however given the current low cost offerings from the likes of Midas, DiGiCo and A&H I feel that these new desks dont really offer anything 'new' which would draw in new users. I'm not even reserving judgement. Yamaha should have released these desks at PLASA last year at the same time as the Pro2 to stand any form of chance of selling them. Too little too late indeed. |

I can think of another point: It may depend on how well they combine with some of the older stuff... 5 grand
I Still like the functionality of the M7 and the LS9 however long in the tooth they may be getting.
Can't even dream of affording anything in this league yet though if i did i might go for the Vi6.

I think they are quite limited on analogue ins on the actual console so if you want to do anything with more than 8 channels (I think) you need the multicore.
