I am planning to build hog scoops with Oberton 18XB1500 speakers. The problem is that from the dimensions it looks like that the Oberton is a bit deeper than the original drivers that were supposed to be used.
In the plan it is given that you can make a groove for pd 1850 which is 180 mm in total depth with the flange included, while the Oberton is 207 mm, has anybody had experience with deeper speakers in this enclosure? Or idea how to modify the plan? Thanks!

Hi mate,
I asked the same question to someone on this forum yesterday 'cause he has 6 hogs load with oberton, and he said to me that there wasn't any problem... If someone knows something else it's welcome!

I think it's because the diameter at the back is finer as the pd1850 isn't it?

the 1500 is not as deep as the 1850 so will fit fine.

Oh and i have an other question,
How do i send in a oberton to sound well? 1200w per speaker is enough or 2500 is better? |

Lets imagine that you have a speaker which gives out 90db when given power of 1w:
1w = 90db 2w= 93db 4w= 96db and so on... So the difference between 1200w and 2500w is also 3decibels... edit.So every doubling of power is +3db loudness. Edited by app - 23 December 2015 at 1:45pm |

No disrespect but it amazes me that youre building a huge sound system with really expensive amplifiers and havent studied basic audio rules. Maybe it would be worth learning the basics first before building/playing anything.
Good luck with your project still |
