Shure, but when ya look in the mouth of a hd15 ya can see almost everything. Tongue
Think I will give the "horn" a clean/plain paint with a brush or role and use a spray-gun to raise the warnex on the outer sides. (give it the well known structure).
Hope to get nice crossings, but thats my personal problem - will do my best!

To make it clear; Round all edges and paint the inner sides as "smooth" as possible would be the way to go?!

Thanks again guys, seems that all clear what necessaryto know for me.
Build will start next week, pictures follow.

With regards to rounding edges, as said above do every edge you can and dont forget to round the brace(on the front edge) before you put it in.

I would recomend rounding over every edge that doesnt need to be square. Its helps prevent splintering, smoothes the way for sound waves to pass and is easy on the hands and eyes.

That's the question; "need some edges in a hd15 to be definitively square"!?

@all: Thanks for ya answers so far. Smile

1 yes, a rough surface would affect air flow and hence sound, an ideal horn surface would be smooth, however whether anyone could tell the difference (blind) between two cabs, one with smooth paint another with rough....

2. If I understand your question, yes it's common practice to round over the inner edges.

I would recomend rounding over every edge that doesnt need to be square. Its helps prevent splintering, smoothes the way for sound waves to pass and is easy on the hands and eyes.

Okay, I understand - singles then! Angry

thanks Big smile

Over time thinking about it two additional general questions come up:
(One ask in another thread already, but let me do it again)

1.) Will rough cabinet-surfaces have influences on sound!?
("broken" soundwaves, Huygens' principle etc. pp.)
Want to use the the well known warnex-paint and if there is no "problem" with it paint the whole boxes (inside, flare, [...]), otherwise only the outer-ply with it.

2.) Have anyone round the inner-surface edges!?
Looks good in my head, will give it a try if there are no objections to it.

Davey]

Sorry to stress ya again.

i reckon there's loads of way round that personally.

you could rebate the edge of the curve in or cut curved formers that you screw flat to the side of the box before put the curve in, you then just screw down to the edge of the former.

tbh tho i'd go for option one as it looks way nicer. actually no, i'd go for singles!!!

if you're going to make doubles, make them as you have them in picture 1, and not picture 2.

reason is, it's impossible to screw both of the curved flare pieces to the center piece.. look at it and imagine building it and you'll see what i mean

well obviously it's possible.. could be done with biscuits, or just glue.. or using battens behind.. but it's simpler the other way.
