Just thought I'd post some completed pics of a little box I put together for a friend. Monacor sp-167e 6.5" loaded + 1" soft dome. Lepai  2020 powered.

7 ah SLA internal battery and charging socket doubles as volt meter output, phone/ipod charging socket, 12v output ect. Weight is roughly 9kg.

Big up to Markie for the grill Thumbs Up

If there were sound systems in Super Mario Land, they'd look something like this. Great work!

Pretty bomb-proof - looking ... (I assume you fitted the ally edging strip + croner braces to a reflex box of your design/sim etc. ? (I mean as opposed to just cutting up an existing flightcase).

Could you characterise the sound of those Monacor drivers ? Do they sound "hi-fi smooth" or "PA gutsy" ? Efficiency at 92dB is not bad for a 6.5 ... but quite likely to be 92dB @ 2.83V=2W rather than 1W .... often the case with 4R drivers.

Did you wire the tweeter with a passive XO across one of the drivers and the other 6.5 on its own ?

Hi Slaz, the whole box was built from scratch but I used some existing flighting off an old speaker from many moons ago.

Those drivers are definitely hi-fi sounding rather than PA and was chosen for their sensitivity and impedance and the price was good to keep the budget as low as possible. But they aren't too shabby for a cheap driver.

The 1" is crossed over at 2.5k and seems to cope pretty well where its at to my ears, but as always theres scope for modifications in that area. X-over is on 1 channel only.

Box is 18mm mdf, aldcrofts coated, hopefully he'll keep her dry but all exterior joints are treated with the paint anyway. Will try and put some build pics up if anyones interested.
