Hello all,

Just wondering if anyone has used one of these or has any opinions on them?

http://www.thomann.de/gb/the_tamp_d3400.htm - http://www.thomann.de/gb/the_tamp_d3400.htm

Had to sell my void amp that powered my bass as i needed funds for other things, so ive been thinking of new amps to power them.

These have 2x 1800w which is a good 900w each for my void 18" 1000w drivers..

Can anyone also suggest any other amps more suitable for under £400?

Cheers :)

It's pretty much what you expect for the money. I've got one. It must be getting on 4 years old now and still going strong. If you do a search maybe my review is still to be found.

Basically it puts out the power (aroun 1.5k a side) into 4 ohms, but any lower impedance and it shuts down. We ran 3 loonies off one side and it does kick but then shut down as soon as it clips.

Used it to run two USBs for days at Frenchtek in rough conditions. Plenty of output. The problem is you have to keep a close eye on it to make sure it doesn't clip as it has no limiters. It sounds fine for full range use too. The fans are quite noisy and i don't think it has any XLR links which is quite annoying.

I'm sure there are much better class d amps for the same price out now.

NOTE: Please don't go posting comments such as "its shit" when you haven't even seen or used one. It would be most useful to write "i've heard from my friend X that he used it in situation Y and wasn't happy for reason Z"

YES, definately the best cheap amp I've had. A little late you got that answer.
I wouldn't recommend any other cheap amps like t.amps / behringer / smrt / psso
The proline from t.amp sounds decent too from what I can read here.

used a t.amp ta2400 to drive 4 SS15s (volt r3823 loaded), running hard for 8-10 hour stretches the last couple of weekends - have to say was pretty impressed with the output and sound of it - had a load of heavyweight roots through the system both times and did not disappoint :). No idea on long term reliability though...

I was looking at the American Audio amps a while ago and RosscoPico a member on here gave me some VERY good prices. I believe he uses them exclusively and gets them direct so may well be worth contacting him.

You need to have music material with high crest to run the d3400 nicely. If you are playing techno etc. it will have very tiny output, some guys in a german forum measured them at 250 w @ 4 ohm sine-wave^^. Use Proline 3000, it has more output then Thomann is saying (>2000 w @ 4ohm) and its 2-ohm proof.
The TA 2400 seems to work very well, no need for TSA 4000, which was measured with about the same results as 2400.
Same on TSA 4-700, you cant (!) put a 2-ohms load on to it, therefor no 4-ohms bridge mode, which would be very nice for what it costs. Its nice for stereo bi-amped tops.

Spotted one of these going cheap a while ago , was thinking it might be useful for running monitors for me . How would it deal with two martin f12+ on one channel and two Martin s15 + on the other?

as i said, depends on the style of music your playing. i would go for tsa 4700 for that purpose. you get them around 300€ and you can run one sub and one top each from channel a and c, using the 4-pole speakons. its better to have the subs on different channels!

I Briefly owned a D3400 about 5 years ago,
Sent it back to Thomann straight away in exchange for a Proline 3000.
I found it completly lacked any usable Low end for sub duty and was very nasty sounding on Mid Hi Duty.
I A/B's it side by side with a Dynacord Powermate 1000 (Rated about 2x250w @8 Ohm). No Comparison, the 250w dynacord vastly outplayed it on sub.

Fairly sure the America Audio V6000 is discontinued now.
