I've recently had some Hogs built but they have been t-nutted to fit M6 bolts. My PD1851s arrived today and they require M8 bolts, what is the best way to increase the size of the hole so I'm able to mount the drivers?

Should be a peice of "pee" to sort with a hog, no?

Take the old driver out, remove existing tnuts, redrill with 8mm bit, offer up the new 8mm tnuts and then clamp them into the wood (G Clamp or such)

Just make sure that the new tee is seated properly.

This! you don't want the last tee to fall out Ouch

Run around them all first with a washer instead of the basket, with an electric drill you can get them to bite fully in no time Smile

think you need a 10mm drill bit for m8 tee nuts.

Put a bolt in them, and batter it with a hammer.

and when you seat the new T' nuts use a big packing washer on the bolt head side, otherwise you could risk damaging the baffle with countersunk holes

Yeah, I use a bit of 15mm ply with an off cut of 3x40mm metal bar on it a dn a 1/2" impact wrench to seat tee-nuts, I have few few fail out!!

I'd always put grease or copper slip on the bolts as i fit the driver, spinning Tee nuts are a a pain!!Smile

Use a 9mm drill for M8 "T" nuts, this gives you a nice snug fit without excessive pull in force required. Always check and screw a bolt in before offering up the driver to sort out the little buggers that are waiting to "pick-up".

As others have advised use a little smear of grease* on each bolt when you do final assemble and always try to use the correct bolt length i.e about 3mm sticking out through the nut.

Remember that with simple jobs like these that doing it right is just as easy/easier as bodging and potentially save a whole load of hassle, if not for you at least for the poor sod who buys/inherits the boxes after.

Tony

* I always use synthetic grease as I find that this is not harmful if it gets anywhere it should not (no comments please) and tends not to dry out as quickly.
