Hello speaker friends!

I'm always happy to see new no-copy & no-compromise manufactures of speakers.
For a while I've been hearing about Clear Sound that people started hyping here in Denmark as being the most amazing thing.

So I decided to take a look at their website until I got a chance to hear them.
http://clearsoundco.org/" rel="nofollow - http://clearsoundco.org/

First thing I saw was "In god we trust" on the front page, Christianity gives me the creeps, edit: because religion starts so many wars!

I decided to look at two tops that a friend of mine got and a set of subs playing at a huge party in town soon.
REMEMBER: Papers doesn't say all, sound does:-) -these specs sure don't look exaggerated.

BP1508:
http://clearsoundco.org/products/product/120
First things that jumps in my eye is:
continous SPL: is only rated at 133dB, but:
Weight: is 79kg.
Peak SPL: is rated +6dB (usually program is +3dB of rms)
Extremely poor spl / kg I'd say! -But seems trustworthy!
Beamwidth: hxv is 60x90, very odd having wider dispersion vertiacally, probably because people also flip them for "linearray"
HF-xover: At 1,8 khz, must certainly be more harsh than other phaseplug speakers that achieve xovers at 4-8 khz
Stacking: The trapezoidal shape doesn't even fit the stacking mode! This seems extremely silly, if stacked side by side combfilters will occur. But it looks even stranger, two boxes should have a 46 degree on the outside of the trapezoidal shape, I would think this would cause comb filters if each cab covers 60 degrees.

In use: I've heard only once for a short period of time, this is too little to give a fair judgement as the music material affects my perception too much. Yet what I experienced was no "attack" in kick bass like chest thumping turbo bass & pretty sharp highs, no idea about the mid really, this techno was mainly bass & highs...

RLH118SX

Rear loaded??? It's the front of the cone loading the horn! This looks more like a tapped horn.
Size: 140x140x68cm, 195kg, in other words EXTREMELY big for a single 18" driver!
Excursion: 2 subs with 1000W seems to hit excursion limit severely
Range: claims 36 hz, reads 42 hz on spl chart, says 45 hz minimum at 45hz.
-This is not very impressive for such a HUGE bass horn!
sensivity: is extremely high from around 74 hz to 98 hz from reading SPL chart.

I still need to listen to it more!
And they're driving them up all the way to Denmark to make techno-heads happy.

So can anyone tell me -What's the hype?

Still a rear loaded horn though, and a big one.

Some good designs in there, an impressive amount for what looks like a company born out of diy.

Some questionable stuff in there too...

I'm surprised you didn't know them, I'm happy that I've posted in here!
I very much like that they allow for at speaker to be 1,4x1,4x0,7 meters! Thumbs Up

I'm just not very impressed with the size/low end performance, this speakers barely reaches 35 hz.Thumbs Down
Same for tops SPL / kg, + thet have a really odd dispersion pattern I think?

Try taking a closer look for yourself at the spec sheets...
EDIT: And even better tell about your experience or where to get one

Is that frequency response based on singles, or a stack of a minimum number of boxes?

I know of at least one other popular DIY horn that is both large in size and not particularly low in singles, and yet people rave about them....

They are mentioned 2 or 3 times in the forum before.
I have personally worked with them 4 times in the past in live gigs. We've also bought some monitors from them from which I've posted pics here. Most of the drivers are made in sofia by them,
compression drivers are usually the well known bms coax.
Super efficient systems, loud and sweet sounding.I can only compare them with touring grade high class brands.Especially their big format array.

What's wrong with red speakers?

Firehouse soundsystem is looking GOOD in RED:

Of course I think mine look better in GREEN :-)

But if you'd ever end up with a PINK soundsystem you could become invincible if you get a horde of transvestites to sort out mamas homofobic boys and leave the real ones dancing:-)

UUHHHH, SUBJECT: Think about a SCOOP is less than 50% of a that clearsound sub.
why?
