Just tried to buy a Rane mp 2015, I was informed by the stockist that they're being taken over by Newmark and current production has stopped.

Well that doesn't look good! And I can't find a MP2015 anywhere in stock for sale.

Quote from that link

"inMusic, a group that's purchased and streamlined various electronic music brands over the past two decades, including Numark, Alesis, Denon and Akai."

Numark indeed.

People on the Serato forums I think it was were saying production for MP2014/2015 will start again but will be manufactured in China, not the USA.

We should start a list of great names now reduced to a sticky label plonked on cheap far-eastern tat.

Here's a few.
Altec.
Citronic.
HH.
Studiomaster.

Be seeing you.

Damn that's a shame because I used to have a Rane TTM56 and it was brilliant and the build quality was awesome, now their equipment is gonna be made in China I won't be buying anything from Rane ever again. I think Rane in a few years won't any longer be thought of as a brilliant manufacturer. The same happened to Mackie when Loud Technologies bought the Mackie company years ago. Mackie's equipment was legendary and I remember Mackie even having an advert where they rested a truck on four Mackie mixing desks to show the awesome build quality. But in the past 8 years of so there's been soooooooooooooooooooooo many complaints and bad stories about Mackie eqiipment. One dj shop I spoke to about 5 years ago said they stopped selling Mackie equipment and refused to order any Mackie equipment when customers came in and asked to do so.

The reason was they had 50 pieces of Mackie subs and speakers and the shop said 42 them were brought back in by customers having failed. Then they were repaired and then another 30 something were brought back in AGAIN because they had failed the second time. The shope told me they gave customers refunds and sold them subs which they said no customers had any problems with and claimed the refunds back from Loud Technologies and stopped dealing with them.

This happened before the MP2015 even came out.

Despite the joint venture with Serato, RANE’s reputation (legacy) was based on their rack mountable mixers and processors from the 1980’s – 1990’s. Their mixers offered excellent craftsmanship with a price point ranging from $700 - $1700 at a time when the average DJ Mixer range from $50 - $200

RANE definitely catered for the High End Club Market or those willing to invest in their mobile sound system. I still have a good amount of RANE SP/PE Parametrics that are working properly to this day.

By 2000 RANE was already clenching for life as the Digital DJ Market was soaring. The standalone DJ Mixer began getting obsolete 10 years ago as DJs were migrating to all in one MIDI Controllers. How many companies actually focus on crafting standalone High End DJ mixers today that were not introduced 20 years ago? Even the companies focusing on the starter DJ market do not offer a wide selection of DJ Mixers anymore.

The market RANE focused on dried up and RANE took too long to embrace digital technology unlike Numark.

Best Regards,

Probably a good time to download all those useful application notes in the Rane library, before an inevitable New Enhanced Corporate Culture takes over...

I love Rane but I think the company is finished, moving manufacturing to China is all about companies making more money despite what bulls*t they spout about keeping prices competetive, Allen & Heath moved manufacturing to China years ago and the build quality plummeted, an ex Allen & Heath rep told me that it was all about raising profits, he said how he'd been  sacked for telling people exactly that, something which the top bosses at the company didn't want people knowing. But he felt people had to know the truth that it WAS NOT about keeping prices low, it was about the company wanting to raise profit margins significantly. Loud Technologies bought the legendary Mackie company and moved manufacturing to China and ever since Mackie products have been plagued with failures according to people who've bought Mackie equipment and dj shops i've spoken to.

I hope Rane equipment stays the awesome build quality it's always been but I don't think it will.

Yeah funny thing with the corporate managers, same song everywhere, raise margins, lower production cost, go to China, feed the dragon..... Then people are wondering why there is a recession....

Check out Jason Stoddards blog about his company schiit audio. Recently he's been writing about weird pricing policies for electronic parts from China. Prices are kept artificially high to keep american/european competition down.

Yes, heard the same a little while back.
Heard Rane was originally a family run business who took pride of their product but they just had enough and decided to sell.
They done well. πŸ‘πŸΎπŸ‘πŸΎ

Some of the plate AMPS let go on the Mackie active stuff, there is a problem with them when driven hard (apparently), I have s408s and the build quality is amazing (designed by EAW) a mate had active Mackie 2x15 for his band never let him down also, cant say Ive heard any other issues than the plate amp in the active TBH but yep when it gets shipped out to China it can go wrong, even Martin use china drivers now, used to be ATC. Sign of the times.
