WOW...
Does anyone know anything about this system / the crew behind it? I was at Hospitality (Drum & Bass rave) at Leas Cliff Hall in Folkstone on Saturday night and they were using this system. IT WAS INSANE. I've been to so many raves/parties now and witnessed my fair share of quality sound systems but this one blew everything else I have ever stood in front of miles away, quite literally. I went to look them up and found their facebook page which contains a lot of praise from people who have witnessed it and DJ's who have played on it. Things like "makes funktion 1 sound like laptop speakers" and "my eyeballs were vibrating"... I'm drawing a comparison against Funktion 1 as I believe they are now considered the industry standard for Dance music sound reinforcement and I cannot believe how over-hyped they are. The FK1 Dance Stacks at Digital in Brighton left me with horrible ringing ears for days afterwards (Shogun Audio, also DnB rave) and sounded like it had been pushed way beyond its limit. I remember wishing they would turn it down because at one point I couldn't hear any detail in the tunes, just flat out distortion. I'm sure it was mainly down to the engineer on this occasion, however, I have always been unimpressed with FK1. I've heard loads of FK1 stuff at festivals and raves and to be honest, every FK1 system I have heard, IN MY OPINION, has been underwhelming with little definition in the bass end! So the RC1 system has smashed it. I don't know who they are but they obviously know what they are doing. I would use terms such as thunderous, bone-shattering, earthquake to describe the sound. Please don't think its just bass power though, the overall sound was beautiful. It just sounded immense and like it was only ticking over all night! They look like very well made home brew boxes. I'm guessing the subs are twin 18" reflex's, cannot be sure on the tops as they were quite large boxes and all had full frontal grilles. They had 9 Subs each side which would be 32 18" drivers in total. I've never heard a sound so heavy in all my life and I've been to Notting Hill every year since I was 16 years old! Someone must know more about this! - Joe.

I was there, working on sound crewing the event. I was the very tall one with the big fancy Digital desk by the side of the stage :)
There certainly was a lot of bass... powered by a large pile of Crest CA ceries amps (mainly CA18s). I can tell you that it wasn't running anywhere near its' full power though! We got back at 9:30am though... one hell of a long night! Edited by Smiter - 30 January 2012 at 9:36am |

Hi Joe,
Thanks for your comments. It's always nice to be appreciated!
Like you said, it was only ticking over. I think we were probably running about 35%. I don't think it would have been healthy for the crowd if we had turned it up any louder.
Hospitality's sound engineer commented that it was the first time he has ever done such an event and had headroom left in a system!
Hope to see you at another event soon. Looks like RC1s are performing in Kent next on 25th Feb, details to follow on Facebook.
Best regards, Jon.

A transmission line cabinet that works properly with an 1851 would be unmaneagably huge!

You can't make a comment like this without elaborating! C'mon we're all about to fall off the edge of our seats! What's the secret to this FK1-crushing ultimate sound?!
