Hi guys.
In this coming weekend, i will try to set up xovers, phase alignment and delay on my system. BUT, what if i use some other amps with the same DSP and speakers. Will the phasealignment be different, or does the choice of amps not affect the setups alignment? I would like to make a preset on the DSP that fits my speakers, and not be forced to use the same amps every time (dry hire friendly). |

As long as you don't use an amp with built-in DSP you should be OK (other than the levels).
The input gains on different amps will be different, of course, not a big deal. DSP amplifiers will have different latency specs, and may require adjustments to the delays of the crossover. |

Thx mate :)
I only use old school HEAVY amps like RAM Audio BUX series, Crown Macrotech series and Crest Pro (the old HEAVYYYY series!) I will make some DSP settings then :) |

gain and limiter structure will vary from amp to amp for example it may limit just before clip on one amp but be no where near limiting but the amp be well into clip on another if you see what i mean

also pro tip for doing time alingment (if your using a program like smaart) while your doing it at your chosen point rember to set the crossover so its full range. smaart has 'trouble' working out the delay in the lower frequencies.

SMAART is not the only 1 that has problems finding delay time on low frequencies . That's where the phase display comes in to play .
Set the system as it is right now all on (full range) . Synchronise smaart with auto small/large . Than start alligning each speaker @ the x-over frequency using the phase display .
Getting the delay on each speaker individualy using auto small/large will give you problems because it's band limmited pink noize specially on the subs/ lower frequencies because of the wave lenght / period . It has problems finding the peak .
Links about allignment :
First i want to do a few articles about cardioide sub array's but after that i'll be writting about a allignment with a line array system where i'll be trying to use as little delay as possible and a lot of phase filters (all pass 1 and 2) . that might take me a while because technical english is rather hard for me but it will be there in the near future .

There is no problem doing this. I use different combinations of bass and mid/top cabinets as well as just using the mid/tops full range. All the different combinations are saved as different presets. I just select the preset for the required amp/ speaker combination.
