Love that. I hope there was a suitable tune playing at this point!

Well that depends entirely on whether you like trance or not. ;)

Bit of a strange one for me the other weekend. Normally do bands, but had a hire out for a DJ setup and although it was a later night, it was certainly less effort and stress!
With this powering the F1 rig...
Overall an enjoyable evening and the DJ, although pushed it at times generally kept it in tow

Friday night we had all of our subs out for the 1st time
Nothing went wrong but we've a long way to go till we are happy with the sound/balance. Played with running it 5 way then checked against it running 4 way to see noticeable dif
But still with the huge spike the box and driver creates at 60-100ish we need to have a serious smart session to get it the way we want
and gonna build some simple splay boards in the next month

Allow me to share:
Amplifier manufactures determine current draw (amperage) using continues sign-waves and/or pink noise as input signal with the amp loaded down to its max impedance using a dummy load. a dummy load is basically a voice coil that can survive many thousands of watts without burning and only getting very hot. the continues noise drives the amps output stage till clipping is reached, seen on an oscilloscope. with the amp just barely under clipping the amperage draw is taken using an amp-probe. the probe reads current draw by how fast electrons are racing into the amp using the hot ac wire only. the probe uses magnets that clamp around the hot wire detecting the pulsating ac and tells the amperage draw reading.
all that said with generators now in mind: Because music is never continues and pulsating, the amperage needed if far less then you would expect by 65 to 75% less,,, no BS.. anyone can buy an amp-probe at any electrical supply house starting around 60 bucks. you will need to make a short 12" heavy duty ac extension with 6" of its outer jacket stripped off giving you access to the black hot wire. plug the shortie into the power source and your system into the other end and fire up. clamp the amp-probe around the black hot leg and read the draw. Keep in mind this is for short term and quick testing, return system to normal ac setup after reading
those using professional 2-3 phase ac distribution can leave the probe on a hot phase to monitor current draw indefinitely.

Only the top amp rack is mine! The rest and system was sub hired in (mainly from t0m off here), but this is the system we took out for a 4day 'tech-metal' festival.
8 x Void 218s 10 x Void Arcline 6
Powered off K20s and K3s.

NICE!!! Glad to see someone is posting modern array systems !! ------------------ For the record and no disrespect intended to anyone showing off the old, but, its time to chop it up for firewood. old horn systems simply cannot compete with today's line array systems, not to mention lugging it !.
also,,, many posts show folded Bertha bins being used in rooms too small and simply cannot support sub-bass wavelengths.

It's not something that many of us own. But a nice set up for sure.

I for one would like to disagree with you on this subject. A correctly setup horn loaded point source system can beat most "line" arrays in the sound quality department. Especially if these arrays are less than 2 meters long.

People gig what they have in venues that hire them.
I have never heard of a cabinet that could not play in a specific room? Does this also mean my home theatre sub can't play those ~20Hz notes because i have small living room?

But you are forgetting this is a DIY forum, granted it has some top industry designers and engineers here but still people here want to make and listen to things that they like the sound of for enjoyment. Few people will consider an array for their hifi.
As such its not always about who has a line array for Glasto main stage or trucking costs to make money on; and i doubt you'll ever convince the reggae culture to change to one haha.
