Pre-amp and an LMS? - Interesting or is the LMS just a back up?

Please excuse my ignorance as this is something I have never really looked in too. Why dont you just use the preamp in a high end DJ mixer? If this is just plugged straight in to a amp rack do they have crossover's and limiters built in to them?
Alot of these set ups only seem to have one turntable. Is it just a case of swap the record over?

I have never looked through this thread before, it looks good and alot of love taken :)

Q.Why dont you just use the preamp in? AS a high end DJ mixer? i believe most sound do, but i have seen many sounds that do use dj mixer too...

:yes thay have crossovers built in,not aware of any limters. i perfer to use my ears, not lms to much like hi-fi

:and the one turntable use is that its a vintage "Reggae SoundSystem" way to set up yu sound, relating back to that waaaay back inna ja money was an issue, so basicaly be cheaper to have 1 deck(but thats another story but dem lenco's n' garrard turntable's were a lot off moneys waaaay bac whenLOL),so fe one deck that the gap between playing tune was covered by mic-man and siren's,echo's ect.....this ent a disco dave ting were man walks round wid a bag'a record n' frighten to talk pon the micLOLLOLLOLLOLLOLLOL

i own a pre-amp also and you can plug in 2 Turntable it has a fader knob instead of of slider...nice  one.!

Back to the original thread.....I was with Charlie afew months back. He is in good health and is still a total genius. He is not building at the moment, but has a new preamp model getting ready to launch. Jah Youth sound use Charlie pre's and if you have heard Jah Youth on a good day, you will know about his quality sound.
I will post pics of my pre amps as soon as I work out how to.

a few years back i used to use a typical mixer/crossover/graphic setup, then i purchased a preamp, not long after i sold the mixer, graphic and crossover Wink

yes its basically a mixer/graphic/parametric/crossover all rolled into 1 unit
i only use 1 turntable so yes its a case of playing a tune at a time, the gaps filled in with sound effects or the last tune being echoed until the next tune starts Smile
