The lights are Dinottes.

Bright little things despite being 6 and 7 years old :)

Correct me if I'm wrong but the connectors on there as standard are milspec. I don't mind spending the money for something decent as it's never going to be properly expensive.

Probably a little larger than required but Neutrik do IP rated XLRs.

X-HD is IP65 and XX-HD is IP67.

does it really need to be that waterproof? seeing as its a v.low dc voltage and its not being immersed in saltwater.

It's not the fear of electrocution that worries me. It's the fear of going down a country lane one rainy night where the water takes out my lights.

not a clue, found them in a toolbox, filled the solder tab end up with silicone before tightening the covers on, that actual pins ect are covered by the XLR outer anyway. XLR's resemble mini ceeforms in essence hence using them.

Sam, I added a 12v fag lighter socket to my motorbike, so that I could power my iPhone for Satnav. The socket was temporary, on the end of a small jumper using the Tamiya battery connectors to take it to the battery.
After I crimped them up, I just put hot glue in the back of the plug/socket, and made an extra 'blank' so I could seal it up when the fag lighter part wasn't plugged in. That was 2 years ago and its been fine.
