now rocking 6 Weller TCPs..

Plus 1. and plus 2 :)

Used TCP's for years. Tried others.. No comparison. My oldest TCP is a black PSU, so over 35 years at least. Now has a later blue handle iron in it. My other TCP's are very old too.

Also use a Weller  piezo Pyropen. Awesome tool. Had a few of these in my time too.

As shaggers says, spend the cash. It's an investment in a proper tool.

Yes, I have had the pleasure of using a TCP, when I was a teenaged oik, at my uni. That one was variable temp, if memory serves. The one that's been linked to, appears not to be. Still better than the TENMA?

All TCP are variable temp, you just change the tips...

In real terms I have a "hot" one and a "hotter" one with various tip sizes...

I just bought one like the cheaper one posted by Shaggers. Similarly, just for cables sockets ect. HUGE upgrade over the elcheapo ones. Variable temp is easy to get used to.

I have a TCP on the bench which must be 30 years old now, and I have a weller pyropen piezo in the tool box which is the absolute bollocks. Both the best at what they do, no need to look elsewhere.
