As part of a license in a venue i have an install.. Environmental Health have stipulated a Sensor or some way of attenuating the system, when the rear fire exit is opened, as this exit is one of our main routes for sound to escape..
It's not something i've ever had to do before.. I've a soundweb installed currently, is this something i can do via that, or is there a simpler solution? |

Yep, it can be done. We're doing a similar thing next month with one.
Similar to a fire alarm music mute, only you affect a change of preset with a lower level as opposed to a mute function. (Trying to think of correct terminology, must wake up a little more!)

I think you mean 'in' the Soundweb, you can set a relay to do whatever pretty much via GPIO. |

Looks like you nee something like the Formula Sound Guardian. Provide it 18/24 volts and it will annotate the volume down to the set level. |

Again complete waste of cash when you already have a Soundweb…

There are various ways to do it in the Soundweb. Either via a preset change or just something as simple as a two way source selector triggered from the GPIO where one source is direct and one goes via a gain stage.

If you have a Soundweb London you can write logic so it drops the music level immediately but ramps slowly back up, or drops it gently, etc... Or can require a reset off a panel before it returns to previous level. Also set timed presets so it can't go above one of the set levels before or after a certain time on a certain day. Or... If the licence conditions are mega strict - mute the system at 3am every night for example.
But as been said even with a 9088 - no other boxes needed. The 'Web does it all. |

soundwebs are badboy.
use a source selector and two gains, right click the 9088 icon on the main map, go down to 'control ports'. then select your source (as in the source with reduced gain), right click in the source control window and go into design, then drag the drop down box into the field below the control port window. then drag the box you just dropped to whatever logic input you desire on the graphic above. should ask you if you want analogue or something, select analogue. you can also make preset buttons in the control port window, to make a preset, set the 'web' to what you want the preset to be go to 'view' then 'preset', then make a 'new' preset, then 'store' that state. right click below the control port and make a preset button then right click the buttion and go to properties. Here you can tell it what preset you want the button to be. then drag the button you have just created (like before) to a logic input. I have not programmed a soundweb for a while so If I have anything wrong, someone please correct me. play around and find your own solution, I am sure there are many ways to skin a soundweb. happy webbing Edited by lgosdset - 24 July 2014 at 9:48pm |

I've done a simular thing on the door of a recording studio in a residential area due to complaints. Can't remember exactly how though but yeah no boxes required and just a few £'s spent on a contactless switch for the door.

We recently did exactly this in one of our venues in edgware.
If the rear fire escape is opened which it does quite a lot and opens to face residential properties all the speakers in that zone drop considerably in level from memory about 24 db via a preset on the sweb. It's a little faffy to get right more so the right kind of contact switch. Get something robust as doors can be opened slowly, and shut very abruptly and that takes it's toll on the switch, and you can get sometimes intermittent results, even if the door is leant against.
