May get bumpy here..
How many people here, routinely use sub speaker leads over 25M ? Many argue nothing wrong with upto 25M of 2.5mm2 to each 8 ohm cab, as this is regular in clubs. Two recent gigs couldn't put cabs where desired, as would require >25M leads, and I just "DON'T" like to extend them. Want to hear general comments from the "Reggae & Roots/Scoop" crowd. use 25m 4mm every month, no problems. set up in a very large venue recently and had to double up and use 50m 4mm, and to be honest there didnt seem to be anything lacking, few people from the forum were there, Marvin, BIG SHOW, etc. good pressure all around the room, especially at the other end of the hall. I've always been worried about using long lengths after reading different things, but after using 50m cable and sounding the way it did in a venue that big with massive high ceiling i'd say you have nothing to worry about. (power we used was 32a supply)

Was that 2x cabs per 4mm pair, or 1x cab per 4mm pair ? |

1 50m 4core run plugged into 2 scoops, and linked 2 more scoops in parallel using 2 short 1m lengths.

small amp rack behind each stack, leads as short as possible and 4mm core
25 meters should be the balanced signal cable going to you tower I have some speaker cable length tables somewhere. I'll put them up. |

It's not exactly complicated, the maths is simple and then you need to adjust for heating effects as well if you are using silly thin cable.
You can predict exactly your losses and damping change at any frequency if you know the impedance characteristic of your enclosures. Whether or not you can hear that is another matter. |

sorry to hi-jack the thread a bit..........but can anyone explain to me what is best for 2core speaker cable 2.5mm or 4mm...in terms of power amp "Power and Lengths"
only talking about sub-duty is 4mm cable overkill for lets say 6m-10m max cable lengths or can you get away with 2.5mm?? or is it best to use 4mm cable??? at said given lengths example power amps Crest Ca18, 9001, Crown vz5000, Qsc 5050......5k range amps ect..... thanks repleys much apprecited.......
