i kind of agree and disagree, its a pain, but i figure if the output at the end of it is useable, and the fancyness prolongs the lifespan and boosts the output for the cabinet spec then why not.

Look at the latest range of flighter jets, all computer controlled impossible to fly in a traditional sense, but thats what makes them stupidly good, technological trickery!!

That a cabinet of that size and power should be able to move a piece of A4 paper about is not that impressive.

Sod 27Hz, I am just wiping my screen up from a "load" after looking at the X3.

Makes F1 look tame. Love the built in "Drive Unit Test System" check, attention to detail like that deserves attention.

It's an awesome box, the X3. So much more headroom than boxes of similar size.

Well now, having just completed the 11 night show, done the whole 'get out' thing and slept for a few days since, it's time for an update.

The rig we used for FoH was simple, two stacks of:- 152 tops, a 215 beneath and an i12 below on sub duty either side.  Bu**er me those i12's can kick, way more than I'd expected!

Having got 'accepted' as ok by the theatre's in-house tech guy, I got to see the well locked away amp rack - 22 channels of immaculate FFA amps all beautifully racked up! - 3x 6000, 2x 6004 and 2x 4004.....the multichannel jobs running the additional tops and the fills all around the upper circle plus the various onstage foldbacks etc.

Having added up the £cost and total RMS of the amp rack, I'm not surprised at the SPL levels available, but what did surprise me was the total and utter ease the system met everything thrown at it - 32 incoming audio channels from an enthusiastic band, AV inputs, Qlab inputs plus 10 radio mics, produced the occassional 'peak' - did the audio system struggle at any point?. Nah!

Smiter, I'm guessing I'll regret asking, but as an EM Acoustics dealer, could you PM me the retail cost for a pair of 152's, then for a pair of 215's, then hit me with the cost of a pair of i12's - I could be about to trade in my kit!!

I guess you were at the Haymarket then! I'll drop you a PM.

Glad all went well, I had a very very minor hand in that install.

Just to throw it into the ring, we use a fair amount of EM kit in our venues, we use 121's, 81's, 215's and m12's for everything from bar fill to front of house for gigs, and love it, it all gets run fairly hard on a regular basis, and never sounds bad or seems to start struggling. the wedges in particular seem to be able to throw out endless levels with barely any feedback whilst remaining musical.
