DjLeco That Amcron Geodyne 1 was sold over here as the Crown Power Base 1. There were two more larger models (Power Base 2, & 3) that reflect the output of the Macro/Micro-Tech 1200 and, 2400. There was also the CSL Series (which is exactly the same) and, the Powertech Series that offered IOC indicators and front input gain controls. ychole audio That price is a steal considering the 8002 was the upgraded version of the Crest 8001. I believed it cost around $2500 when it was sold new. Best Regards, Edited by Elliot Thompson - 18 September 2009 at 4:33pm |

Yes Elliot, I know al GroundBridge Series of Crown. I owned Powerbase 2, and I sold it at good price, and Powertech 2 too, wich I keept exactly for SignalPresenceIndicator / InputOutputComparator bicolor led display, very very helpfull.
Also I have modified Powertech 2 in Powertech 3, excepting protection wich was recalibrated also for 2 ohms loading, works perfectly. Supply was upgraded at 114 Vdc supply like Powertech 3 have, from 96 Vdc wich have the oficiial Powertech 2, and also one pair of output devices for each side of amplifiers too(all skipped with MJ15003 and MJ15004)
I will put some pictures of it, soon

Class AB supplyed at +/- 84Vcc in IDLE. In load , supply drops to +/-78Vcc one channel loaded 4 ohms dummy load, and I estimate the supply will drop around+/-74Vcc both channels driving 4 ohms. Very very nice limmiter inside, NO CLIPPING distorsions even with much more level input signal (overloading), than needs for Max pout be delivered

I've got a Bell PSX-6022 (no 'C') here which looks completely different inside and I think must be quite a lot older. But from the front apart from the C in the model number it's pretty much identical.
If it wasn't buried at the bottom of the pile and my gf has taken her camera away I'd drag it out and take a photo for comparison. |

The black things bolted to the heatskinks are the output transisitors, which have 3 legs. they should be isolated from the heatsink so they dont short.
dont worry - if its working then its fine, but it does look mighty close for comfort!
