NeverWinter

I have heard  about the woofers,

I also hear about its the same kind of horn design same as the CV.  I belive the difference is the compresion chamber that has the wierd look. I think CV uses the full circular where the driver is mounted... Correct me if i'm wrong.

If i don't like the sound from them i can sell them at a high price since these cabinets are in 2,500 dollar range here in DR.  I could order 8 CV AB 36 if I deside they don't sound as i expected.

Tell me what you think?

I have hear good and bad comments on the LX1818, have you listen to this cabinet before? or V2? .They say the new model "V2"  has a better sound since they install new woofer.

One of the bad comments i have  heard is the weight factor. On my opinion wieght for me its not a problem since i have asistances to move the speakers around.

The bad part is that the cabinets are on there way.

you'l notice a diffrence in wieght alright. sound wise, you'l be happier because they are horn loaded. but B52, that i've seen, doesn't always use the same drivers in their cabenits. sometimes they are OEM Emenince drivers, sometimes Madison Exicutioner "X" drivers. my guess is, becuase of their history, i can see them using Madison's newer driver "The Dragon" as the so called new driver. they willgive you a kick, but thats about it, even when you have a good stack going; thats about all you'r going to get.

i havn't really heard the V2's yet. but what i do know is that the horn length is suposebe slightly longer and the mouth is supose to be slightly larger. driver wise, i don't know what they are loading them with yet. perhaps when you get them, could you debolt one of the sides and grab some images of the driver enclosed in there.

personaly, the LX1818's arn't as impressive as they look on papper. they have a weak punch and they don't drop too low for a horn. what i would do is go for some Cerwin Vega Jr. Earthquakes *out of the three models Cerwin Vega has, even the weakest model, the Jr. Earthquake, has better responce and output*

either that or, find you'r self some good 18" drivers. if you can get you'r hands on some Void V18-1000's and install them into some 1850horns or just use some PD1850's. this alone will save you a little money aswell. if you can't get either one of these, try some of the drivers sugjested for a 186horn and build you'r self some of those.  B52 is great for LowMids/mids but for bass wise and highs, not pretty.

EDIT: the only B52 sub worth saying it has texture is their single 18" powered reflex sub. other then that... .

Guys..

After a few weeks on thinking about It, I decided to empty my savings account... It's time for an upgrade in sound and speakers... Due to past bad experiences.

I sold my pair of custom made dual 18 inch horn loaded subs, the Pyle pro 3x crossover , both titanium tweeters, I threw away the horn drivers and sold my 4 15" inch woofers used as low on my towers.

I decided to rebuild my speakers enclosures with the following design below.

Pic  of enclosure:

Midrange Section:

Entire audio config:

The part list for two pairs or 4 enclosures :

* 8 Peavey 1508-8 HE BWX Low Frequency Driver,

http://www.peavey.com/products/browse.cfm/action/detail/item/103409/number/00457680/cat/234/begin/11/1508-8+HE+BWX+Low+Frequency+Driver.cfm

* 8 Peavey RX 22 Compression Driver , 2 per horn flare ( Peavey CH 941 Flare)

http://www.peavey.com/products/browse.cfm/action/detail/item/94835/number/00479860/cat/233/begin/1/RX%3F+22+Compression+Driver.cfm

* 4 Fane Y 1 inch horn ( ADA.SIN.DBL1to2F)
adapter

http://www.fane-acoustics.com/public_html/media/pdf_media/Adaptors2005.pdf

* 16 Genuiene Eminece LA6-CBMR
http://www.usspeaker.com/LA6-CBMR-1.htm

* 4 Peavey CH 941 " I own two I’m getting two more "

http://www.peavey.com/products/browse.cfm/action/detail/item/106907/number/00493940/cat/228/begin/1/CH%AE-941.cfm

The enclosure dimensión is :

56"H X 22"W X 30" back plate 18"W

Weight: Who knows , Should be a bit heavy.

I plan tu use perforted costum cut grill to cover the entire front side of the enclosures, metal coners ,wheels and handles

Now for subs

I decided to buy 4 B52 Pro LX1818V2,

http://www.b52pro.com/models/LX1818V2.html

To power them i also bought " Old trustable and realible" 4 ADJ V4001 plus , 3,000 watts 4ohm monobridge. ( audiolines.com)

That should be plenty of power for those babies.

For processing gear i got.

*Behringer Feedback destroyer pro FBQ2496
http://www.behringer.com/FBQ2496/index.cfm?lang=ENG,

* 2 Behringer Ultradriver Pro DCX 2496
http://www.behringer.com/DCX2496/index.cfm?lang=ENG

2 for four way stereo plus floor monitors i plan to get in the near future.

* Behringer Ultragraph Pro FBQ1502 ( to EQ my Wireless mics)

http://www.behringer.com/FBQ1502/index.cfm?lang=ENG

IF anyone has suggestion or any idea i could use i would be more than grateful to hear it.
