hello guys,

i have been working out a rough plan for a rear loaded horn for the void 1000,
used the equations found here to aid me. http://fullrangedriver.com/singledriver/horndesign.html

using those equations i ended up with 2.73cm2 which really does not seem right....(although i dont actually know)

been using hornresp and have hit some issues. my impedance and frequency plots are all over the place are there any pointers that anyone can suggest that might be a major factor? compression ratio? length of horn? flare rate?

Thanks

Tom

Are you certain you did the conversion of VAS into cubic metres, and the conversion of At into cm2 correctly? There are 1000 litres in a cubic metre, 10000 cm2 in a m2. Ive made mistakes with these way too many times....

You don't need to make conversions. You just put the values in the equation as they are and the result you get are cm2. You should get 27,3cm2

I make it 273cm2, it is necessary to use the correct units in the formula or the result ends up one decimal place out.

273cm2 is probably still too small a throat area for an 18" driver though. What frequency range were you looking for Tom? You may find that a suitable flare rate makes the horn ridiculously long with such a small throat.
