I'm interested in some measurements - I predict much more flatness and less efficiency than the sim.
This Mr Startec is quite the celebrity on those French forums. |

This reminded me of Mircea's drawing from two years ago.

Why the gasp? There's only so many ways you can fold a tapped horn - it is the individual design that counts.

Interesting.
I might try out 4 of these next year. Efficiency looks kinda meh, but with high power its sure to be loud. Do tapped horns gain anything from coupling? |

well the thing looks good..........
I just don't understand why the HOG was not also called a tapped horn............ aaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh yes!!!!! I understand then.........because the drivers were not reversed in the HOGs.......... Edited by heinrich - 24 October 2008 at 6:55am |

scoops are similer in some ways to TH..
It's not the driver being the other way round that's the difference tho... The main difference is where the driver is in the horn path. |

Having built 3 TH's you do not reverse the polarity.

It's actually the principle used that is the main difference. Tapped horns work on mouth reflections which lets the cab create so many resonances it ends up ruler flat. If you folded out the Hog, you could call it a tapped horn. But when the driver is in that position on the Hog, I'd start doubting whether reflection occurs. Adam is right, some do have the driver further back. Heinrich, the magnet doesn't have to face out.
