Hi guys! I'm kinda curios about your thoughts on the line sourceish waveguides Void has started implementing in some of their latest cabs. If you take a look at the Prime V2 and the new DJ monitor system (both are not yet on their website) you can clearly see the use of something that looks like a line source waveguide, but I'm sure as hell does not behave like one. What's the point of using waveguide likes this if a very narrow vertical dispersion is not needed? Enlighten me.

Prime v2 was not a line source waveguide, just a very narrow vertical and horizontal dispersion one to facilitate that box's array intentions - it's also not on the website as it was only available for a short time before being discontinued, and is no longer available.

The new DJ monitor/low profile fill Air Series box also is designed for a narrow vertical dispersion but wide horizontal dispersion - it's designed to either only cover a DJ or be mounted close to a ceiling, to fill the gap in the product range between the Air Ten and Air Motion.

In both cases a narrow vertical dispersion is intentional - so neither are line source waveguides, they just share some properties.

Why was the Prime discontinued? It was a good box.

Simply less and less of a market for super high output, narrow dispersion heavy point source boxes now especially in the UK - even less of a market if it doesn't have a certain badge on the front.
