hi i'm looking at building two OM12 cabs http://billfitzmaurice.net/OmniTop12.html

and the suggested driver is a eminence Delta pro 12....

I have two delta 12a, here in the workshop.... is see that the xmax is halved, what effect would this have on performance... I aim to cross these at 200hz... will the xmax have an effect?

and if so what.

i do see that the delta pro has a slightly diiferent response, but not much, and the sensitivity is about 1db more.

would really appreciate your help..

In my opinion 2.4mm is plenty enough for mid driver working above 200Hz. Would use 24dB/Octave or steeper high pass tough.

You may struggle to get to 200 on the tham15 without some eq. 150/160 may be better.

Hi I've built 4 of the Omni top 12s using the bata 12 driver winch is listed as the budget choice in the plans. Although the delta 12 will work it does not have the rising midrange response that the suggested drivers have. This can probably be accounted for with EQ. are you using peizo or compression drivers? I cross them over at 130hz 24db There dam good boxes considering they only get 200w a box currently.

Well was looking at the deltas, (as i have them here)and adding some eq....
I need to have tops that will do at least 500w at 98db sensitivity, to go with my (soon to be upgraded) Tham 15s using 1kw drivers at 98db sens...  need to get all kit including lighting, amps etc into an estate car!

Not sure about using the piezos, what you using?     I was looking at this - http://cpc.farnell.com/faital-pro/hf104/compression-driver-1-40w-8r/dp/LS03740

and this horn http://cpc.farnell.com/b-c/bme15/horn-flare-1-throat-90-x-60/dp/LS02460

and crossing at 3.5k with this..http://cpc.farnell.com/eminence/pxb2-3k5/crossover-2-way-3-5khz-8ohm/dp/LS00208
