12 v Soundsystem advice.

Hey,
So i been reading a lot on this site and found some brilliant advice.Thought i would put my plans to the forum.

So i have a 2 ideas. they are very similar in design in terms of cabinet size. and preferably battery and amp.

Spec 1

Drivers: Eminence Alpha 8" x 2 & some tweeters

its gonna all be rammed into a box with partitions for the drivers dimensions of which are 800 x 350 x 350.

Could do with advice on cheaper or efficiencey of battery amp and speakers and also on whether i could squeeze some 10" drivers in. im currently working on a scale model design on sketch up.

Sure it's possible to squeeze in a pair of 10" driver. It's even possible to squeeze in 2 pairs.

My Boominator design is actually 12% smaller volume and has 4x 10" pro woofers, as well as batteries and amp inside.

Please note the those CCTV 12V battery packs are not 12V. They average 11.1V since they're 3x 3.7V li-ion cells in series. That has an impact on maximum power output of a TA2020 based amp.

3x 3.7V Li-Ion cells - max output = 13Wrms@4ohms : 7Wrms@8ohms  

6x 2V SLA cells - max output = 15Wrms@4ohms : 8Wrms@8ohms

4x 3.2V LFP cells - max output = 17Wrms@4ohms : 9Wrms@8ohms

Not a lot of difference and definitely not audible, though.

thanks for the reply, design wise mine is quite similar. although i am fascinated by the solar panels we never have enough sun in england so over here pretty pointless. i spy a couple of LA batteries, would you recommend something like that for my system if the Lithium ones wont work? my friend said something about having to recharge as soon as its depleted etc.

heres a photo of my design.

i want to put some Fane soveriegn 10" and some tweeters. 
using the Ta2020 it would only provide 5 watts per channel to a pair of 8" drivers.

I have a fusion fp 402 would this be better?

Must admit I've wondered this myself .... so just checked a fully charged CCTV pack - measures closer to 12V  than 11V - on my not-very-accurate little meter ...... also thats without load. I think the cells are actaully close to 4V each fully charged/open circuit, so yeah - it makes sense.
But I still say their size/weight makes them a great choice for highly portable TA2020-based systems.

My little system was playing out yesterday - consisting of 2 amplifiers - 6800mAh CCTV battery each - and driving 4 x 4R drivers ......._ really_  kickin up - it certainly _sounds_ bigger/louder than you'd expect .....

... yeah - and yesterday I dared to move the whole lot around on the back of my bike (pedal-bike that is). It _can_ be done - a bit dodgy, but ermm ... yeah - as long as I take it easy with the riding style, it works :-) :-)

2 speaker boxes on the rack at the back ... everything else i.e. batteries, mixer, mic, cables, players - in a rucksack :-) :-)
