The Ultradrive can be modded for 12v use. I once installed one in a system for a friend.

So Sam, are you saying the ultradrive uses 12 volt the other side of the transformer or are the mods more complex than that?

There are a number of threads over on the DiyAudio Forum discussing various mods to Ultradrives which may be of interest?

However as far as I'm aware the Ultradrive has a number of different voltage supply rails, at least 2 of which would need to be +/- 15volts to enable the specified analog outputs to work correctly.... together with suitable 'Digital' supplies - all from a Switch Mode PSU

I'm pretty sure thats the case. I got it premodded and just installed.

In time plus parts, to replace the existing Switchmode PSU completely with suitable DC-DC convertors, probably about the same as the initial cost of the Ultradrive.
Plus there would be absolutely no manufacturer's warranty for the original product
