I'm conflicted, somehow it does not seem fair to put someone else to task of taking their time and effort into something unknown, on the other han it sure would be intresting to see how they are recieved.

The S2 is approx 0.45xSd to lessen the stress on the driver, wich in turn perhaps allows for less powerfull drivers to be deployed (to sort of answer the driver question), this is also a way to compensate for the sligtly less stable cones of most 18" drivers (relative to their 15" ans 12" siblings).

Most of the main design balancing (genral folding style, ratios and main path expansion) are derived from the earlier THAM designs but with some differances, the path length had to kept shorter then the box dimensions would allow if using the traditional THAM folding, this gave raise to the more aggresive end expansion, wich also seemed to pan out pretty well in the simulations in the form of a wide range sensitivity boost, their intended use are in mutliples in larger systems, preferably as prevously mentioned, stacked in groups of four or more, simillar to that of FLH's.

This is not to say that they would not work well on their own, but all of this remains to be seen, in conclusion, I have no substantial claims or proof of their performace other then that given in the published simulation data.

Any driver recommendations for sub £200? The P-Audio C18-600LF Mk2 1700w suits me price wise. Is it usable in a tapped horn set up?

To be honest I'm a bit nervous of using a design that isn't yet proven, purely because I can't afford constant recones if it was to put too much stress on a cheap driver and being a family man the budget is somewhat limited at the moment.

On the other hand I'm keen to move on the Berry bass cabs and build a single cab to outperform them (which probably isn't much of a challenge!) so I'm open to any fairly easy cab designs to build.

Thanks for all suggestions so far, they really are appreciated guys.

Tony, would the P-Audio I mentioned be reasonably reliable in that cab?

It is tuned with a low compression ratio so does not give the driver a hard time. I will stick the parameters through Hornresp tomorrow which will give me a guide however how accurate the P.Audio figures are is anyone's guess.

Top man, thanks for that. I'm a bit of a pillock when it comes to simulations ( but trying to learn).

I've been running four 18" tapped horns for a couple of years. there's an old thread with pictures somewhere. I'g playing the Black Swan in Bristol on the 13th and St Pauls Carnival at the start of July if you are about and want a listen.

I reckon the cheapest driver worth using is the Fane Colossus 18-1500. there's no point building a massive box and putting a budget driver in.

Tony, do you think that BMS 18S430v2 be ok on the end of 1500w in that cab, high passed at 45hz?

It will be OK with a HPF at 35hz
